Clubhouse, an audio chat app now allows users to interact with voice rooms via text. For creators, in-room chat offers another touchpoint with the audience in one room and provides a way to receive live feedback. Rooms where text chat is enabled will have a special icon at the bottom left of the screen.
The Clubhouse has been allowing listeners – even those without an account – to listen to conversations on the platform through the Clubhouse for the Web since last month. They also recently released support for 13 new languages on the social audio platform.
The social audio platform announced in a blog post that the platform wants everyone to join live conversations via voice or text. The new feature called in-room chat is similar to the feature provided by Skype and Zoom, the text out chat area inside the live room.
Voice room moderators can delete chat messages, and creators can choose to disable text chat when starting a new room. Audiences will also have the option to report comments and provide feedback to moderators. This will help ensure that the text chat is a safe place. However, moderating comments in a room with hundreds or thousands of people is certainly not an easy task as it poses a challenge.
For rooms where the in-room chat feature is enabled, there will be a dedicated icon at the bottom left of the screen. After the end of the live audio session, all messages sent during the session can be read by anyone listening to the room’s replay. The clubhouse also hopes the new feature will enable creators to cast quick votes or source questions in live chat with people.
In January 2022, Clubhouse expanded its platform to the web so that anyone could listen to live chat. Listeners do not need to install the Clubhouse app on their devices or sign in to the platform. Separately, Clubhouse works to bring an option to allow users to share sessions attended by the app on any social media network or messaging app.
In December 2021, Clubhouse released support for 13 new languages on the social audio platform, now it supports 26 local languages. Users who wish to use the localized version of Clubhouse can now switch to one of these languages.
