The Chinese electronics manufacturer, Xiaomi has been a frontrunner in terms of smartphone design. The company is known to unveil innovative smartphones such as Mi Mix Alpha which has a surround display. Now leaksters have uncovered a smartphone design from the company that has a dual side sliding system combined with a secondary display as well.
This patented was applied by Xiaomi back in January 2021 and was published last week. LetsGoDigital reports that the mechanism is operated in two ways. There is a portion that slides from both the left and right side of the device hence called a dual sliding concept.
The interesting thing here is that both side sliders have different use cases. When the user slides the device towards the right, the camera module is revealed and when it slid towards the left, a smaller secondary display is revealed. Unlike the primary display, the secondary one is narrow but as tall as the former one. This means the display will cover the whole front panel and since the camera is tucked inside the sliding mechanism it will be invisible usually.
Coming to the back of the concept phone, the camera modules are hidden inside the sliding mechanism too. The front has three cutouts and the back has four cutouts probably to house cameras. At the moment we do not have more details about this project hence cannot predict a timeline for its release. Do take this information with a pinch of salt as there is always a small chance that the design never sees the light of day.
