Even after owning the world’s most favourite instant messaging application WhatsApp, the social networking giant Facebook did not stop the development process of its messenger. The company brings updates on regular intervals and makes the Facebook Messenger more unique as well as powerful features for the online conversations.
Well, today at the Facebook Developer Conference, the company announced a desktop version of the Facebook Messenger and that will be available for both the windows and Mac. The Messenger desktop app will be similar to the WhatsApp desktop app which was unveiled a couple of years ago.
The company will give all the features of the Facebook Messenger’s web version on the desktop app, which means users can able to chat, call, and even video chat with your near and dear ones through the Messenger desktop app. Having said that, the company did not revealed the actual timeline of the desktop application of the Messenger, but the company already started to testing.
Furthermore, the company also announced project Lightspeed, Messenger is re-engineering the app to cut 70 MB off its download size so even people with low-storage phones can easily install it. The Lightspeed update is expected to roll out later this year.
Facebook also revealed that it has over 40 million active businesses and 300,000 businesses on Messenger, which is up from 200,000 businesses a year ago.
