Back in 2015, the social networking giant Facebook unveiled its virtual assistant called M. The The AI-powered virtual assistant M, helps in those situations where your conversation requires it, or in other words, it will give you suggestions in between your chatting.
When it was unveiled Facebook claimed that its M is capable to give head to head competition with other dominating opponents like Google, Siri and Alexa. However, things were not much easy for Facebook, and it resulted to take the company a bold decision of killing its virtual assistant. The social networking giant has announced that they are going to shut down the service for its virtual assistant M on January 19.
Well, I think Facebook has taken a good decision as I don’t believe that many people are aware about the capability of Facebook’s M assistant, as no one uses. And as I already mentioned above, that the dominant opponents like Google are there for any kind of virtual help, so we can’t say anything wrong with this decision by Facebook. But the time of announcing this decision feels a little strange to me, as we are expecting some big announcement from Google and Amazon for their virtual assistant at the CESÂ 2018.
So, are you a user of M??? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
