Smartwatch maker Garmin has launched a new smartwatch focusing on divers. It’s called Garmin Decent G1 smartwatch. It also comes with some fun and essential features for the benefit of diving experts.
Garmin Decent G1 smartwatch comes in two variants, one solar powered model and the other non-solar model. It offers a variety of diving modes, including gauge and gas dives, closed circuit reheater, apnea and apnea hunt.
Apnea Hunt mode allows you to dive for free with apnea-specific dive data at a higher screen refresh rate. It also disables start and stop tones so as not to scare the fish while sinking for spearfishing.
To help you with any of these modes, the Descent G1 can display temperature, depth, dive time, surface time (TTS), and no-decompression limit (NDL) alerts. It can also track gas mix, decompression, up and down rates and safety stop information. The device also provides a GPS.
The smartwatch has a rating of 10 ATMs, which means users can take it up to 100 meters deep. It features a 0.9-inch x 0.9-inch display and a sapphire crystal screen. The display features a monochrome panel that is easily visible in the sun, and also offers a translucent memory-in-pixel (MIP) panel.
In addition to diving, the Decent G1 smartwatch can track a variety of sporting activities such as swimming, hiking, running, cycling, golf, yoga, surfing and more. The watch can monitor your sleep activity and give you a sleep score.
The Garmin Descent G1 offers standard smartwatch features such as alerts for app notifications, calls, texts and calendar reminders. In terms of pricing, the non-solar model is priced at $ 549.99, while the solar-powered Garmin Descent G1 is priced at $ 649.99.
