We moved to the second month of the year, and the tech giant Google releases the second distribution chart of Android for this year. In last month, we saw that the latest version of Android which is called Android Oreo started to increase its share in the distribution chart. So, let’s dive into the article to know more about the latest distribution chart and statics of the Android versions.

Google releases Android distribution chart of February 2018

Latest Android Distribution Chart

Let’s Start with the latest version of Android i.e. Oreo, in last month the v8.0 of the OS was at the 0.5% share, and the v8.1 was at 0.2% share. And now in this month, the new OS has more than 1% share in the Android distribution. The 8.0 version is installed in 0.8%, and the version 8.1 has 0.3% active devices. Both the versions of the latest Android have managed to 1.1% share, and it’s a good result if we look back to the history of Android distribution chart. The reason behind the improvement in the numbers of Oreo in the distribution chart is the launching of many smartphones with the latest version of Android. And the HMD Global who has rolled out the latest version of Android in their multiple devices, also help the new version of Android to gain numbers and I expect after the MWC event the number will rise sharply.

Moving to the Nougat (which is new and last major update for many devices), is now at top of the table, just like I assumed in the previous month as ( v7.0 increased by 1.2% and v7.1 increased by 1.0%), and now it has a total share of 28.5%. This is really a good job for the Android version and it is really happy to see that many OEMs pushing the latest update to their devices.

Coming to the older versions, Android Marshmallow continuously going down and in this month its dropped by 0.5% and the OS is active on 28.1% of devices, and now the version is moved to the second position in the Android distribution. Speaking about the Lollipop, the numbers continuously going down, both the versions (v5.0 and v5.1) of Lollipop and now it is slipped to the third spot on the chart with 24.6%. In terms of Android KitKat, it also goes down by 0.8% and in this month it is active in a total number of 12.0%.

Jelly Bean is active in 5% devices, Ice Cream Sandwich is active on 0.4% devices and the Gingerbread, is active on 0.3%.
