To expand the Digital India initiative, the government ask smartphone manufacturers to make smartphones under ₹2,000.

According to the sources, a meeting held by Niti Aayog. The government asked to the mobile handset makers to develop smartphones under ₹2,000. The government has approached to the companies such as Micromax, Intex, Lava and Karbonn.
And it is also to be said that the government is expecting the manufacturers to build 20-25 million low cost smartphones and bring into the market. The main idea behind this move to make the digital transactions faster and easier for the people.
Surprisingly, the government recently ruled out the subsidy and has instead asked manufacturers to come up with a solution to reduce the price of the smartphones.
