During the online conference earlier today, Huawei unveiled a plethora of devices. Among them, the MateBook X and MateBook 14 also gets an update in terms of hardware specifications. The MateBook X gets Intel-powered CPUs whereas the MateBook is powered by AMD’s Ryzen CPUs. These laptops also come with the latest WiFi standard. Let us explore the specifications of these machines in detail.
Huawei MateBook X

Starting with the display, it features a 13-inch display with 3000 x 2000 pixels resolution along with a 3:2 aspect ratio. The display boasts a 90% screen to body ratio, which is named Huawei’s Infinite FullView Display The display panel also covers 100% of the sRGB colour space and the peak brightness is set at 400 nits. The display has thin bezels around it and also supports touch-based interaction.
Moving to what’s under the hood, the MateBook X is powered by the Intel Core i5-10210U Processor or it comes with Core i7-10510U CPUs, which belong to the 10th Gen family. These can be paired with either 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The company is offering a single storage option of 512GB of PCIe NVMe SSD. All this is backed up by a 42Wh battery which can be charged via one of the two USB Type-C ports. The connectivity options include WiFi 6, a 3.5mm headphone jack and weighs just about 1 KG.
Focusing on the sundries, there is a hidden camera for video calls and four speakers. In addition, Huawei has put in a new type of touchpad, which according to the company is larger and the “Free Touch” trackpad supports “full haptic feedback”. These remind us of Apple’s Force Touch touchpad found on its MacBooks. According to the company, it can recognize different pressure levels and the improved haptic feedback mimics the feel of pressing a real button. The company has also integrated a physical fingerprint sensor onto the power button for added security.
The Huawei MateBook X Intel Core i5 variant will cost €1599 whereas the i7 version is priced at €1799. It will be available in silver, green, blue, and pink colors and will go on sale next month.
Huawei MateBook 14

It features a 14-inch 1440p display that supports touch along with a 3:2 aspect ratio. The laptop is powered by the Ryzen Series processors from AMD and it goes up to Ryzen 4800H CPU along with integrated graphics. The memory configurations include the combination of up to 16 GB of RAM and the storage is locked at 512 GB SSD.
The MateBook 14 is backed up by a beefier 56Wh battery which can play 1080P videos continuously for up to 10 hours, according to the company. The I/O provisions include two USB-A ports, HDMI, USB-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. All this is packed in a chassis that weighs 1.49 KG and comes in at a thickness of 15.9mm.
The pricing starts at €849 for the Ryzen 5 4600H model that comes with 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. The one with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB of storage costs about €949. Meanwhile, the top-end Ryzen 7 4800H version with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD storage is priced at €1049. It will be available starting from October as well.
