The Chinese tech giant Huawei has launched their new Huawei Smart Selection Car Smart Screen. It is a smart screen device inside cars to make the infotainment of the vehicle smarter. It supports multiple apps and let the user control it via the screen.

It features an 8.9-inch ultra-clear touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels. The screen can crank up the brightness up to 700 nits and the company has taken special care to minimise the glare. The device runs on Huawei HiCar and supports the cross-screen transfer of mobile applications and comes pre-installed with 30 supported apps including Baidu maps, Gaode maps, and other mainstream navigation apps as well as NetEase Cloud, Kugou, Himalaya, and other music applications.
It comes with both front and rear pop-up cameras among which the rear camera act as a dashcam. The base upon which the device rests is 360-degree rotatable and it supports both voice control and air gesture control. If you wish you can route the audio to the original audio system of the car. To run the cross-screen mobile applications both the smartphone and the device must be connected over WiFI or Bluetooth.
The company has partnered with up to 20 car manufacturers making it compatible with over 150 models. Huawei aims to have the system pre-installed on over 5 million cars by 2021. According to the Consumer Business head of the company, Huawei’s solution provides better experiences and apps than Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Huawei Smart Selection Car Smart Screen is priced at 1699 yuan (~$259).
