If we talk about the new trend of 2017, Dual Camera or AI based Camera technology is one of them. Apple has done some very new things like Animoji, while Google bought one of the best portrait mode with the just single camera. For both, AI technology helped a lot. In 2018 we will see other companies to try this technology too on their smartphones. One of those is going to be Huawei.
In a recent event in China, Huawei introduced their own technology of notch camera i.e. Point Cloud Depth Camera. The results of this camera is quite similar to Apple’s TrueDepth Camera setup. Huawei will also bring face unlock technology with 2018 Huawei flagships just like iPhone X. This whole setup will have an infrared camera, RGB camera, near infrared illuminator, and 2 RGB LEDs to capture 3D print of the face. This camera creates 300,000 points to create the 3D diagram of the face. Apple’s TrueDepth Camera Setup captures just 30,000 points. Also, this Point Cloud Depth Camera can make Animojis like iPhone X.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. This technology seems pretty interesting it directly challenges the iPhone X. But the question is, when will we see this technology commercially? & Will it overtake iPhone X’s TrueDepth Camera Setup?
