The Chinese telecommunication Huawei is facing horrible days due to the blackout in the tech world, but still, the company is trying to defend and sustain in the smartphone industry. It is also reported that the company is developing its own operating system and the many other new strategies to overcome the current scenario. In the meantime, today the company launched three new devices – nova 5, nova 5 Pro and nova 5i at an event in China. Huawei nova 5
It features a 6.39 inch full HD+ OLED display with 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution along with a 19:5:9 aspect ratio and has a waterdrop like a notch on the top of it, the smartphone also comes with the DC dimming support. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the latest in-house Kirin 810 processor along with Mali-G52 MP6 GPU for the graphical task. The smartphone is paired with 8GB of RAM along with 128GB of onboard storage, and supports Huawei’s EROFS filesystem. which offers 20 percent better performance than the current EXT filesystem. It will also allow to expand the storage upto 256GB via microSD card.
Talking about the camera department, the nova 5 rocks quad-camera setup at back, and that’s in the combination of a 48-megapixel primary shooter with an f/1.8 aperture, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter with an f/2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel shooter with a 4cm f/2.4 macro aperture, and 2-megapixel shooter with a depth sensor and f/2.4 aperture. Along with a 32-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture and support AI HDR+ as well as support for night mode. The smartphone also supports the in-display fingerprint scanner.
Regarding the connectivity options, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, 4G LTE support, and GPS. The smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.1.1 and backed on 3,500 mAh battery with 40W fast charging support.
Huawei nova 5 Pro
The Pro variant of the nova 5 will have Kirin 980 processor at its heart and it will be available in 128/256GB of internal storage as well as the device also supports NFC. Other than that everything is the same as the regular variant. Furthermore, the company also unveiled the Limited Edition of the device and it comes with special purple FreeLace earphones in the retail box.
Huawei nova 5i
It sports a 6.4 inch full HD+ display with 2310 x 1080 pixels resolution and the smartphone also sports a punch hole setup, which will keep the front camera under the display. The smartphone is powered by Kirin 710F processor and paired with 6/8GB RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone comes with 128GB of internal storage and that can be expandable upto 512GB via microSD card.
Moving to the photography department, the nova 5i features quad-camera setup at back and that’s in the combination of a 24-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter, a 2-megapixel 4cm macro aperture, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The smartphone also has a 24-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture. It also supports a fingerprint scanner at back.
Speaking about the connectivity options, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, 4G LTE support, and GPS. The smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.1 and ships on 4,000 mAh battery to keep the lights on.
Pricing and availability
The nova 5 is priced at CNY 2,999. While the Pro variant with the 8/128 GB variant has the price tag of CNY 2,999. and the 8/256 GB variant carries the price tag of CNY 3,399. And the nova 5i will be yours for CNY 1,999 for 6/128 GB, while 8/128 GB variant will be sold at CNY 2,199. Lastly, the limited edition of Huawei Nova 5 Pro will be priced at CNY 3,799. All the smartphones will be available in China from June 28, and there’s no information about the availability of the devices in other parts of the world.
