The Passport Seva Programme V2.0 and Global Passport Seva Programme for missions overseas and the same brings the new e-passport system in the country. It brings the chip-enabled booklets and the same will be issued to all the fresh applications and renewals both in India and missions abroad.
It is worth mentioning that those citizens won’t have to fill a separate form or anything. For current passport holders, you guys won’t be affected by this change, and you can able to continue using the current passports until its expiry date, until the pages run-out, or if your passport gets damaged.
Apart from that, the new e-passport system also comes with a redesigned website and app as well. You can also discover features and capabilities including auto-filled forms, seamless document uploading, payments via UPI and QR code, AI chat, and voice bots for real-time support.
Regarding the e-passport, the design will be the same like it will feature the Gold symbol on its cover. An embedded RFID chip and antenna are the two major additions, and these will store the personal and biometric details.
