The arrival of the Chinese smartphone brands including Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo among others created massive competition in the market of India and that made things difficult for domestic smartphone manufacturers such as Micromax and Lava. The Chinese smartphone brands offer devices with aggressive pricing and that helps the company to sell more devices in the entry level and budget segment in the country.
The strategy of aggressive pricing helped the Chinese smartphone brands to grow and the Indian market become the most favourite for them as well. It is also beneficial for Indian smartphone users as they can able to use some good technologies with an affordable price tag as well.
But now we got a new piece of information that suggests the scenario will be changed very soon as the Indian government now wants to set price restrictions on the Chinese smartphone brands and they will not able to sell smartphones cheaper than ₹12000 in India.
The new setup is said to help the Indian manufacturers. There is no official comment from any smartphone brands at this moment of time. Personally speaking, setting price restrictions is not a good idea and I would like to know your thoughts on the same in the comments section below.
