The social networking giant Facebook owned Instagram allows users to share their video contains with their followers, but now the company wants to go beyond. As today Instagram announces its new standalone application called IGTV, let’s check out what’s new in the new standalone application of world’s most favourite photo and video sharing app.
The new IGTV, essay video oriented application and it allow the creators to publish their videos in vertical format and the platform allows users to upload videos up to one hour in length, this was rumored from some time, and today the developers of Instagram makes it in the reality.
IGTV will come with the features like being able to start videos from people you already follow on Instagram right from the time you launch the app. The app will allow users to switch between different categories such as “For You,” “Following,” “Popular” and “Continue Watching”. All Instagram creators will have an IGTV channel with their longer videos. Lastly, the new app allows users to like and comment on those videos, and also to send the videos to their near and dear ones via Direct. The best part is, all the longer videos of the new IGTV app will also be available to watch in the main Instagram app.
Well, the announcement of the new application is a clear indication that the Facebook now targets YouTube and wants to attract more people to their platform. And it is also a wonderful opportunity for the video creators, as now they can able to share their videos in a place where they will get a huge reach.
Having said that, apart from announcing the new IGTV, Instagram has announced another news and it is a milestone for the company. As Instagram now claims that it has 1 billion users worldwide, and that is a huge number. The company has achieved this milestone in just eight years, as the app was launched in October 2010.
