Thunderbolt has received a new generation and the if you are not aware then it is a high speed input or output technology which is developed by Intel. It is actually coming with the combination of multiple features as well as technologies, including USB, DisplayPort, and PCIe, into a single connector and cable.
This capability helps the cable to connect with the different types of devices to a computer with a single port, such as the popular Type-C port. That was the introduction, now let’s come to the matter. Intel has officially announced the next generation Thunderbolt 5 and the same is capable to deliver 80 Gbps of bi-directional bandwidth.
It also features Bandwidth Boost, which can temporarily increase the bandwidth to 120 Gbps for video-intensive applications and the same comes with 2x PCI Express data throughput for faster storage and external graphics.
Intel also offers USB4 V2, DisplayPort 2.1, and PCI Express Gen 4, which means the newly announced Thunderbolt 5 is fully compatible with previous versions of Thunderbolt and USB as well. Thunderbolt 5 is power efficient as well and the same can offer up to 240 watts of power.
