The year has just begun and we already have leaks about the upcoming Motorola smartphones. We will look into the Moto G Power (2021) and Moto G Play (2021) which has come out into the light. Speaking of the former, it is the derivative of the smartphone that was leaked in last November as Moto G10 Play. It is meant for the US market and bears the model number XT-2117.
The Moto G Power will act as a lite version of the Moto G9 Power which was announced last year. The smartphone will be powered by the same Snapdragon 662 Mobile Platform and will be available in either 3+32GB memory or 4+64GB memory configuration. Speaking of downgrades, the primary rear camera will step down from 64MP resolution to 48MP and the selfie camera will also see a dip from 16MP to 8MP. However, the 2MP sidekick cameras will remain the same.
Moving to the battery capacity, Moto G Power (2021) will be backed up by a 4,850 mAH cell which is significantly less that the 6,000 mAH capacity seen in its bigger brother. When it will be released, which is expected to be very soon, it will be available in Blue, Gray and Silver colours.
Shifting the focus to the Moto G Play (2021), which is a watered-down version of the Moto E7 Play, it will feature the same Snapdragon 460 chipset and the 5,000 mAH battery but the difference lies in the camera department. The primary rear camera of 48MP will be replaced with a 13MP sensor and the selfie camera will step down to 5MP from the 8MP camera which is seen on the Moto E7 Play. Finally, the 2MP depth sensor will be swapped for a macro camera. We know that the numbers don’t matter when it comes to optics but OEMs brag about it anyway.
The Moto G Play (2021) will carry the model number of XT-2093 and is addressed internally as “Guam”. We expect the smartphone to make its debut shortly.
