Motorola and Verizon come with a small 5G neckband that can create openings to carry lightweight and slim AR / VR headset designs. Although AR / VR headsets have gradually decreased in size over the course of their development, they are still quite large.
Motorola and Verizon’s new designs see an innovative approach to larger headsets, with the introduction of the 5G neckband that powers such AR / VR headsets or glasses.
The new neckband is the culmination of a joint venture between Motorola and Verizon. The device is an iPod-like item that can be worn around the neck, however it is visible due to its current size. The idea is to free up important space in the headset because the processor and other components do not need to be integrated into the headset or glasses, thus freeing up space.
In addition to 5G connectivity support, the 5G neckband is also equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. 5G support enables XR processing through the cloud.
The Motorola-Verizon 5G neckband for AR / VR headsets features a 5,000 mAh battery, touchpad, USB-C support, display port 1.4 connectivity, accelerometer and gyroscope. These features will ensure the diversity of the device. Both companies currently work on AR and VR applications.
Further details on the release date and price of the 5G Neckband are yet to be officially released.
