SIM vendors verification is now mandatory
All SIM card vendors in the country need to go through police and biometric verification, and it is also announced that mandatory registration is required. The verification procedure will be conducted by the telecom operator and if a dealer violates the rules then a fine will be applied with a penalty of up to Rs 10 lakh.
Deadline for SIM verification
The government has also announced a timeline for the verification procedure and it is announced that dealers can take up to 12 months to complete the verification procedure. So that means the government has provided enough time to complete the procedure.
Demographic data collection
It is also announced that if you take a new SIM card or apply for a fresh SIM on an existing number, then the demographic details will be taken by scanning the QR code of the printed Aadhaar card.
Ban On Bulk Issue Of SIM Cards
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has also banned bulk issues of SIM cards but a new concept of business connections revealed. Along with KYC verification of businesses, the KYC of the person taking the SIM is also required and now you can take a maximum of nine SIMs on one ID.
Disconnection of SIM
It is also announced that if a SIM is disconnected then the number will be available for someone else after 90 days.
