Earlier today, Xiaomi announced their new concept smartphone that features quad curved waterfall display, meaning the display is curved towards the bottom on all four sides.

The news was shared by the company via its Twitter handle and it revealed the actual image of the truly futuristic device. The poster shows a device with a screen that is curved at an angle of 88 degrees which makes the company the world’s first to come up with such a design. This design, however, leaves the corners on the front as it is observed traditionally.
According to the company, this 88-degree quad-curved display was designed and manufactured with “countless breakthroughs in glass bending and laminating technology to extend the limits of the display to infinity.” It also features a portless and buttonless unibody design which they realised with the help of a total of 46 different “groundbreaking” patents.
If you remember Xiaomi had previously unveiled Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha and it was even made available for sales even in India albeit briefly. This proves the company’s strides to drive the industry towards innovation which their slogan clearly establishes as it goes like #Innovationforeveryone.
There is no word as to whether Xiaomi will actually bring such a device for consumers to own. It might be one of those projects that would influence certain decisions which they might rely on to design their future projects and if possible bring a modified version in the future.
