The brainchild of ZTE, Nubia has unveiled their latest smartphones Nubia RedMagic 6 and RedMagic 6 Pro in China. It comes as a gaming phone and features RGB lighting and even carries the logo of a well-known gaming company on its back. Nubia RedMagic 6 Series Design
Starting with the design, this gaming smartphone features a ‘Mecha Sci-Fi’ design as it is covered with carbon fibre texture on its back and has asymmetrical lighting to suit its gaming smartphone moniker. Beside a lighting RedMagic logo, there is a Tencent logo as well. It will be available in Carbon Fiber Black and Cyber Neon colours with Blue and Purple Gradient design. In comparison, the Pro model has a combo of Aviation grade Aluminum alloy and glass finish and comes in Iron Black and Ice Blade Silver colours. Besides which there is also a Transparent Limited Edition with lighting for cooling the fan inside.
Specifications and Other Features
The RedMagic 6 features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate along with 2400×1080 pixel resolution. It also supports 10-bit colour, covers 100% of DCI-P3 colour gamut and has SGS certification for low smear & blue-light. The smartphones offer a 91.28% screen-body ratio, 1000000:1 contrast ratio and have a 6th gen in-display fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
Speaking about the camera department, the smartphone is coming with a triple rear camera setup and that is in the combination of a 64-megapixel primary sensor, along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. It is also coming with an 8-megapixel camera sensor at the front. Camera centric features offered in RedMagic 6 include 4K video, HDR support and in-house Neovision camera optimizations, Cyberpunk filters etc.
RedMagic 6 is backed by a 5,050mAh battery that supports 66W charging whereas the RedMagic 6 Pro has a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 120W charging. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6 2*2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, BeiDou, SA/NSA 5G, 3.5mm audio jack, Dual Stereo speakers, DTS X Ultra and Qualcomm aptX support, The smartphone is based on Android 11 with RedMagic OS 4.0 on top. Both smartphones weigh 220 grams each.
As a gaming smartphone, it features two shoulder IC-touch buttons on the right side with up to 400Hz touch response rate. Other gaming-centric features include RedMagic Arc Reactor Performance & Tencent Solar core Engine, RAM Boost, Frame Optimization 2.0, and Tencent Mobile Game Accelerator. It has an ICE 6.0 multi-dimensional cooling systems that are supported by 13 AI Temperature sensors, superconducting copper-foil, cooling Canyon Air Duct, Thermal Gel, Graphene, VC heat sink and an extra Aviation-grade cooling Ice plate with seven layers.
Pricing and Availability
The Nubia RedMagic 6 starts with 8GB of RAM and is offered with up to 12GB of RAM and in terms of storage, it features 128GB and 256GB options. For the 8+128GB memory variant, the company has put a price tag of CNY 3,799 ($588), for the 12+128GB version it will cost you CNY 4,099 ($634) and finally there is a 12+256GB version that is priced at CNY 4,399 ($680).
Coming to the Nubia RedMagic 6 Pro, the 12+128GB version is priced at CNY 4,399 ($680), the 12+256GB version is priced at CNY 4,799 ($741) and the 16+256GB version is carrying a price tag of CNY 5,299 ($819). In addition, the RedMagic 6 Pro Special Edition (Transparent Black) is available in 16+256GB memory configuration for a price tag of CNY 5,599 ($865) and the 18+512GB variant is priced at CNY 6,599 ($1,020).
The pre-orders are already live and the official sales will kick off from March 11. It will be available via the Nubia website, JD.com and so on. The company also teased that the RedMagic 6 Series will come to global markets which are expected to be sometime around next month.
