The pet food business in India is close to Rs 350 crore while other services such as pet vacation facility, pet psychology to handling pet behaviour, pet grooming, styling and pet insurance among others are already generating revenues of Rs 150 crore or more. The pet population in the country growing at an encouraging 26% year-on-year rate.
Also with the recent pandemic and the lockdown the pet ownership all around the wold has gone up. A total of 3.2 million households in the United Kingdom have acquired a pet since the start of the pandemic. According to different pet shop owners in the Mumbai city there has been an increase of 50% pet purchase in the lockdown period itself. Breeders expected that the demands of pet will go down, but surprisingly it went up. Now, there are not enough puppies to sell.
Pets have provided a great source of comfort during these testing times and have rescued us from the uncertainty looming around.
