The popular chipset makers Qualcomm does not require any introduction because of they power-up the latest gadgets and help us to get the latest and modern features as well as services on our devices. Well, today Qualcomm has unveiled new processors and that is not for the smartphones but for the smart products such as small speakers, sound bars, AV receivers as well as digital assistants.
Qualcomm has unveiled a new series of chipsets called the QCS400 series, and that is powered with Qualcomm’s AI Engine, along with improved voice recognition, high-quality audio support in the form of Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and aptX. That’s not all, the company also detailed its new Smart Audio 400 platform, which is an end-to-end solutions platform designed to help manufacturers accelerate the development of smart speakers.
The chipset makers have listed four SoCs as part of this new series — QCS403, QCS404, QCS405, and QCS407. The QCS403 is meant for the smart speakers and digital assistants, that said, it also has a dual-core CPU and supports up to 12 audio channels. Moving to the QCS404, it is powered by a quad-core CPU, and it is for smart speakers only. On the other hand, the QCS405 and QCS407 SoCs has the capability of the AI engine and it’s developed for soundbars and AV receivers respectively.
The best part of the QCS400 series is the inclusion of the next-generation Bluetooth v5.1 as well as Wi-Fi 802.11ax or Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. Furthermore, the series also supports Zigbee, which is a wireless protocol designed for small networks with low-powered radios.
Moreover, the newly unveiled chipsets promise better efficiency with the support of up to 25x longer standby with voice wake-up and extended battery life. On the other hand, the new Smart Audio 400 platform will help smart speaker manufactures develop products quicker, around the new QCS400 SoC.
