Researchers say WiFi security has been breached by the new exploit called KRACK

Researchers have revealed details of a new exploit called KRACK which takes advantages of vulnerabilities in Wi-Fi systems.

The KRACK, a new exploit which takes advantages of vulnerabilities of Wi-Fi systems which secretly spy on traffic between Computer and Wireless Access points. The Exploit uses vulnerabilities of WPA2 protocol which is a popular authentication system used to protect Wi-Fi networks.

“US-CERT has become aware of several key management vulnerabilities in the 4-way handshake of the Wi-Fi Protected Access II (WPA2) security protocol. The impact of exploiting these vulnerabilities includes decryption, packet replay, TCP connection hijacking, HTTP content injection, and others. Note that as protocol-level issues, most or all correct implementations of the standard will be affected. The CERT/CC and the reporting researcher KU Leuven will be publicly disclosing these vulnerabilities on 16 October 2017.” Warned the  United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team.

Nearly 41 % of all Android devices are vulnerable to this exploit and Wi-Fi devices are to some degree susceptible to the Data Theft. The Researchers also recommends patching all Wi-Fi clients with fixes available to continue using the WPA2.

The KRACk exploit can be further leaned at the krackattacks.com and the vulnerability is first titled as Key Reinstallation Attacks: Forcing Nonce Reuse in WPA2 at the security conference in Dallas.
