This year seems promising to users who are looking forward to owning a foldable display. Till now we have only Samsung and Motorola who have released a foldable smartphone. But that is likely to change soon with multiple OEMs working on foldable. The latest report suggests Vivo is ready to jump the wagon with foldable indicates a leaked patent.
According to the source, Vivo Mobile Communications has filed a designed patent to CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) in August of last year which got approved today. Looking at the renders this mockup reveals a unique design which we haven’t seen in other foldable. It does not have the usual fold-out or fold-in design, rather it features a bottom-fold design which is a first in the industry.
The smartphone will have a long vertical display which poses as a normal smartphone when folded. But when its unfolded it will have a quirky and elongated form factor. Besides the rear panel will feature a Penta-camera setup including a periscope zoom camera and an LED flash unit. Other details reveal the fact that it will not have ports at the bottom but will come with a physical key at the top which could act as the power button.
At the moment we do not have further details on the matter but the company could be very well working on this design the moment to debut it in the market sometime soon. It could help vloggers to keep an eye on the footage when they use it for videos. Judging by the renders the smartphone could have a lean profile which could play out as an advantage over its rivals.
