Last year when Reliance owned Jio launched their feature phone named as JioPhone, it attracted many consumers towards itself and became a big success. It is supposed to be the best secondary phone in the country (obviously primary would be smartphones). According to CMR reports, this JioPhone has a share of 27% in the Indian mobile handset market in Q2 of 2018. Recently they launched JioPhone 2 which has the QWERTY keyboard.
Seeing this success, Xiaomi is also entering in the feature phone market as they launched two new features phones in China i.e. Qin1 and Qin1s. Both these smartphones are launched under Youpin’s crowd-funding program. Both smartphones have T9 keypads and both also have real-time voice translations of 17 different languages. This is possible all because of AI and Machine Learning. Another similarity between both phones is pricing. Both are priced at CNY 199 (USD 29.14, INR 2,000) and will be available in China from 15th September. Now let’s have a look at the specs of both Qin1 and Qin1s:
-
Qin1:
This Qin1 phone sports a 2.8 inch of IPS display with 240×360 resolution. It comes with MediaTek’s MT6260A dual core processor along with 8MB of RAM and 16MB of internal storage. To keep the device on, there’s a 1480mAh battery in the device. For connectivity, it has support for Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 4.2, and USB Type-C port. It is the first ever feature phone which has Type-C port.
-
Qin1s:
This is the upper-end variant without any change of price. Apart from pricing, the display and battery are the same on both phones. This Qin1s has Spreadtrum SC9820E dual core processor along with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of internal storage. It also has Type-C port. But the major difference in connectivi5 between both phones is that this Qin1s has 4G VoLTE support. Other connectivity options are the same as well.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. The Qin1s will surely be a good and straight competition to JioPhone if it comes to India. But the question here is, will Xiaomi launch this phone in India? Well, only time and Xiaomi will tell this. As of now, you guys give your opinions on this device in the comment section below.
