Looks like the Chinese player Xiaomi is keen to expand their base in a rapid phase. After conquering the Chinese and Indian markets, Xiaomi is taking their next step as they’re trying to sneak into the America. On the other hand, Finnish player HMD global popularly known as Nokia, are also trying to make a mark in their nascent stage. So they have come up with an agreement to share their resources and patent rights.
The move from Xiaomi is no surprises as they already teamed up with Microsoft to bring MS Office and Skype to millions of their devices. This deal includes Nokia sharing their network infrastructure equipment to Xiaomi which are designed to consume low power but satisfy higher capacity requirements of data centers.
Apart from this, both the companies will be able to access each other’s cellular standards and pledged to work in tandem on optical transport solutions for data center interconnect, IP Routing based on Nokia’s FP4 network processor as well as a data center fabric solution. The companies are also set to extend their mutual support in fields likeInternet of Things (IoT), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

“As a company seeking to deliver more exciting technological innovations to the world, we are excited at the opportunity to work more closely with Nokia in future,” said Lei Jun, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, in a statement.
This deal will mainly help Xiaomi to expand their base in the western world, especially in the US. Apart from Smartphones, Xiaomiis also one of the largest producers of consumer electronic products including the MI air purifier, MI toothbrush under their MI ecosystem which has over 60 Million products.
