Facebook had recently registered a patent shows that the company has been exploring the Modular smartphones similar to Google Concept ARA.
The project Google ARA has been left off after their announcement, but it has inspired Facebook to explore it entirely. Google ARA  is a failed project with unknown reason to establish. Google isn’t interested in continuing the project.Facebook had combined all the interest on the Modular smartphone and confirmed Patent. The patent shows details of electromechanical parts like Speaker, Touch display, Microphone, and GPS.
A modular phone is one smart device combination of more components or modules like camera battery display and storage. Google has first patented this project a few years ago. The  Google ARA had a base chassis in which all modules could be fixed electro magnetically. And can be used as complete full fledged smartphones by need. If any module or component is outdated, then the user can change the module to a new one.
Google has spent several years in improving their concept model or very much awaited project ARA but it closed its shutter last year. Facebook now decides to bring back the project by its own team and skills. The patented is said to act as a complete phone too. This model will be researched soon and made into a complete working successful model.
Facebook files thousands of patents each year, but many of them don’t show their face to market as a complete gadget. If this project is made real with effort, this would be the first from Facebook.
