Google has updated its Compatibility Definition Document for Android, and now came up with new requirements for smartphones that uses Androids latest version called Android Nougat 7.1.1. Which means Android device manufacturers can’t able to mess with the OS’s system notification feature.

Google is now all set to tightening its grip on manufacturers that use Android on their devices. According to the new version of the company’s Compatibility Definition Document for Android, clearly says that manufacturers could not get into the operating systems notification features. Usually, manufacturers develop their own Android overlay to use. Which sometimes changes how actually the notifications system work in the Android Operating System. Google Now prohibits manufacturers from removing or obstructing features like Android notifications actions, replies, settings and notification bundling.
The new rules also state, phone makers must put in ‘the ability to BLOCK, MUTE and RESET notification preference from a package, both in the inline control panel as well as in the settings app.’ Again, there is no word that these kinds of features were in any kind of danger of not being used by Android device manufacturers. But it’s clear that Google does not want them to be tampered with any way.
