Google is reportedly working on an always-on version of its Ambient Display feature which is spotted in coding. Google Pixel could feature this in future updates.
The Always on display isn’t new to smartphones as Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and LG made it real long ago. Ambient Display is one of the best features available on certain Android phones with OLED screens on it.later this features added up with lift to check or double to check options. This feature will help efficiently manage the smartphone without draining power. This feature to sport as an option in further Android O developer previews.
This feature will not get access to current Android O developer preview 3. It has been found as an app file named as SystemUIGoogle.apk which shows that the feature is on the way to Google devices. The SystemUI Tuner can be accessed on many Android phones by pulling down the status bar and long-pressing on the settings icon. It then shows the message that UI Tuner is activated.
<PreferenceScreen android:title="@string/tuner_doze" android:key="doze">
<com.android.systemui.tuner.TunerSwitch android:title="@string/tuner_doze_always_on" android:key="doze_always_on" sysui:defValue="false" />
The Source code clearly mentions “Doze Always” which means Ambient display always command. Don’t confuse with Android marshmallows Doze battery saving feature. Google could also introduce toggle switch for this AOD feature to operated manually by Android O update.
Google might let us test it via developer previews now and remove after a certain period, this feature will surely get placed in new Android O or further.
