If we talk about smartphone processors that runs the smartphone to do multiple task, few processor names which comes in our mind are Qualcomm, Apple processors, and Exynos. But from past 1-2 years, one new OEM is coming into limelight whose processors are improving day by day and making their stand in the industry. It is Huawei’s Kirin processors. Now today they launched their new flagship processor ; Kirin 970. So let’s see which type of power this new processor contains.
This new Kirin 970 is an octa core processor with 4 cores clocked at 2.4Ghz based on ARM Cortex A73 and 4 cores clocked at 1.8Ghz based on ARM Cortex A53. There’s Mali-G72MP12 GPU which is a 12 core GPU. It is build on latest trend 10nm manufacturing process, which is present in Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 processors as of now. As this is built on 10nm process, the processor pack in 5.5 Billion transistors in the area of just 1 cm². For Camera it has new Dual ISP which will reduce more noise in the low light images. Huawei has also introduced ‘4-Hybrid’ system which brings new autofocusing system which includes Phase and Contrast detection.
Huawei officials were talking a lot about Artificial Intelligence at the launch event. They have added their own Neutral Processing Unit (NPU) for reaching out to more AI possibilities. They said that this new Kirin 970 processor can outperform other processors in the market especially in AI. Other features includes 4.5G Cat. 18 LTE which can give download speed of up to 1.2Gbps . As of now only Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 has the support for Gigabit LTE.
This new Kirin 970 processor will 1st come with Huawei Mate 10, so we have to wait for almost 1.5 months more to see Kirin 970 in action.
