OnePlus unveiled their new flagship phone yesterday, OnePlus 5. They used the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor which is one of the most powerfully processor after Apple A10 fusion & competes with Exynos 8895. If you recall the case of OnePlus 3T in early 2017 where OnePlus cheated the benchmarking results, you know that many people were disappointed with OnePlus but forgot this because OnePlus is a new OEM.
But now OnePlus has done the same thing with OnePlus 5. Developers from XDA who are reviewing the OnePlus 5 did some benchmarking tests with the phone, did found the bug in benchmarking results. OnePlus clocked the little clusters of Snapdragon 835 to it’s full speed i.e. 1.9Ghz , & this results in giving more scores in single core results. Well they are not overclocking the cluster’s speed, they are just clocking speed upto it’s maximum potential. OnePlus’s answer to this decision is that they want to tell everyone what’s the full potential of OnePlus 5. But benchmarking means getting an estimate of phone’s performance in day to day life, not intensive performance.
Well I think there’s no need for OnePlus to do this type of cheating, as we all know how powerful is Snapdragon 835, and with the optimisation of Oxygen OS with this processor the phone is surely a beast. Some people might consider this step normal, that it’s not a cheating to clock the speed to it’s full capacity. But those who look at benchmarks before buying the phone, this is a cheating to them. I personally suggest everyone to look at the reviews or end user experience of any phone before buying, rather than looking at benchmark scores. Because the original benchmark scores are very different from real life performance.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. I think if you are deciding to buy OnePlus 5, have a look at various reviews on internet & then decide. Also don’t buy smartphone of any other brand by looking at this cheat, as this cheating will not affect the performance of the phone. Stay tuned with us for more information.
