The popular mobile chipset maker MediaTek has officially launched a new processor dubbed the Dimensity P1 Ultra and it is meant for automobiles. The processor is built on an advanced 4nm manufacturing process and it offers high performance, robust AI capabilities, and enhanced in-car entertainment features. The newly announced MediaTek Dimensity P1 Ultra comes with 8-core CPU that delivers up to 175K DMIPS of computing power along with a hardware-level ray-tracing GPU and the same offers up to 1800 GFLOPS of performance.
It also features a dedicated NPU that is capable of 23 TOPS, and the company says the processor can also run edge-side generative AI. It also features the Armv9 architecture and the processor built-in AI and the same supports 7-billion-parameter large language models directly inside the car.
The chipset can offer features including advanced voice assistants, multimodal interactions, on-device image generation (like Stable Diffusion), and even AI-based safety monitoring even without the requirement of cloud support.
It is also integrated with multiple components, including smart cockpit, connectivity modules, and T-BOX. The processor also supports 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS, and even includes a built-in modem. The chipset also features an HDR ISP with AI noise reduction, AI 3A, and other enhancements. It will be offering features like 360-degree surround view, driving recorders, and cabin monitoring.
The latest MediaTek Dimensity P1 Ultra also supports up to six displays at the same time, and the processor supports MediaTek’s MiraVision tech, and the same can manage 4K 60fps video playback as well as recording. It is also revealed that the processor will be available in three versions — 5G, 4G, and Wi-Fi models — all featuring an 8-core CPU and 6-core GPU.
