The popular instant messaging application WhatsApp is now being tested with a new feature called guest chats and this particular feature will enable users to chat with those who don’t have a WhatsApp account. According to the latest information, WhatsApp is currently testing the new guest chats feature and it will be available on both Android and iOS platforms. The latest feature will be working like a third-party chat and you don’t need to download the app separately to start a conversation.
WhatsApp users have to send an invite link at the initial stages through the invite a friend option. The instant messaging application will send the invitation through the SMS or any other messaging platform upon your request. After getting the invitation, the received person can either download the WhatsApp application or simply select the continue as a guest option that will open the doors to start chatting with the other person in the browser through WhatsApp Web.
It will be creating a unique identifier to create the encryption key which ensures end-to-end encryption. After that, the system will ask you to enter the name and you can decide whether you need to provide the real name or just a temporary name.
The new feature will be working with individual chats which means the group chat will not be available in the guest chat feature. WhatsApp will also add a guest label at the top bar as well. Moreover, the guest chat feature only support text messaging which means you can’t make voice or video calls and there is no option to share documents or media. The guest chat feature will be available for a limited time as it has 10 days of validity.
