Oppo, the child of BBK Electronics has launched the successor to the stylish Reno 3 Series, which was launched the last December. The new smartphones come with mid-range processor and a sub $450 price tag. It’s named Oppo Reno 4 and Reno 4 Pro. Let us take a look at the specifications of these smartphones which are quite similar in many areas.
Oppo Reno 4
Starting with the display Oppo Reno 4 features a 6.4″ AMOLED Display which lacks any curvature towards the sides.  Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 765G. The phone has two storage options with the lower variant having a RAM of 8 GB and 128 GB storage, and the other one getting extra storage taking the count to 256 GB.
Moving to the photography department, Oppo Reno 4  rocks quad-camera setup at the back. It sports a 48MP primary sensor followed by an 8MP ultrawide angle camera. The third camera in the array is a 2MP Monochrome Sensor and the last one is a Laser Auto-Focus Sensor. The smartphone comes with a dual front camera, unlike its Pro version and that’s in the combination of a 32MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. It is backed up by a 4,020 mAh battery and weigh 183 grams.
Oppo Reno 4 Pro
The Pro model of the series Reno 4 Pro has a 6.5″ AMOLED Display with curves on both sides. The display panel gets a bump in refresh rate with 90 Hz and HDR10+ rating. It has a single punch hole for the selfie camera. This is surprising considering how the non-Pro version has two punch holes for the selfie cameras towards the left side. The smartphone is powered by the same Snapdragon 765G as its lighter version. It has two memory configurations – 8GB + 128 GB variant and 12GB + 256GB variant.
Coming to the optics, Reno 4 Pro has a 48MP IMX586 sensor from Sony. Its followed by a 12MP Sony IMX708 ultrawide angle camera with a 120-degree field of view and night scene video camera. It has a large aperture of 1/2.43″. The third camera in the lot is a 13MP Telephoto Camera capable of 5x hybrid optical and 20x digital zoom. The last one is a Laser Auto-Focus Sensor. The smartphone comes with a 32MP front camera, unlike its lighter version which has an additional depth sensor. It features a 4,000 mAh battery and weighs 172 grams.
Both phones come equipped with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging technology and top-ups the battery in under 40 minutes. Regarding the connectivity options, the smartphones support 5G in both SA and NSA flavor, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C port. Both run on Android 10 with ColorOS 7.2 on top.
Pricing and Availability

Oppo Reno 4 pricing starts at CNY 2,999 (~$422) for the 8GB + 128 GB configuration. It costs around CNY 3,299 (~464) for the 8GB + 256GB version. Reno 4 Pro costs CNY 3,799 for the 8GB + 128GB variant and the 12GB + 256GB variants will cost CNY 4,299 (~607). Both phones will be available on June 12 in China. Reno 4 is available in Black, Blue and Purple colors whereas the Reno 4 Pro is available in Black, White, Green. It also comes in new “Reno Glow” finish of Red and Blue tones making it smudge-free and water repellent, thanks to the frosted glass design. There is a Green Glitter Special Edition as well. The company aims to introduce the series under different names in other regions as well.
