Along with Mi 10 Ultra and Redmi K30 Ultra, Xiaomi also unviled the world’s first mass-produced transparent OLED TV, known as Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition. The Televisoin has been developed with special display panel that is tranparent when not in use and when its turned on, the images appear as if its floating in thin air.
Featues of the Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition
The Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition features a 55-inch tranparent OLED panel with a static contrast ratio of 150,000:1. It also supports 10-bit color, and covers 93% of DCI-P3 colour gamut. In addition, the panel is having a refresh rate of 120Hz. IT comes with 120Hz MEMC motion interpolation for even smoother viweing experience Lastly the company claims the TV has the response time of just 1ms.

Under the hood, it features a custom MediaTek 9650 chipset in combination with Xiaomi’s own AI Master Smart Engine image processing which together offers over 20 optimization algorithms alongside dedicated optimization for up to 5 major use scenarios. The Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition also comes with AI Master for Audio, which can detect the type of content being played so that the AI can set the audio mode accordingly. The TV also offers support for Dolby Atmos.
When it comes to build and design, the frame of Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition is just 5.7mm thick and is placed on a circular base. Unfortunately the TV cannot be wall-mounted and must be fixed on the stand with which it comes. Speaking of software the MIUI for TV has been tweaked to make use of the transparent display. Like in smartphones the TV also supports an Always-on-Display that shows images and texts like date and time when not in use.
Even though many brands like LG has shown off transparent TVs in the past, Xiaomi is the first compamy to mass produce one. But the pointed to be noted is, the display panel is manufactured by LG which Xiaomi tweaks to better suit their product later.
Pricing and Availability
the Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition TV is priced at RMB 49,999 ($7200). Xiaomi has announced that the TV will go on sale in China from August 16th.
