Scammers are always out to explore various methods to steal money and other important details from the general public. Now it is reported that they are using fake messages in the name of the State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest public sector bank. SBI customers are reportedly receiving fake WhatsApp messages by claiming their Aadhaar number wasn’t updated and that their YONO app would be deactivated.
In a post on the very popular social media platform X, SBI shared a screenshot showing a large SBI YONO logo at the top and below that, there is a message that reads: “Dear SBI customer, this is to inform you that your SBI YONO account will be blocked tonight due to your Aadhaar not being updated in your account. We regret the inconvenience and request you to install our official SBI Aadhaar update APK and update your Aadhaar to proceed with KYC immediately.” At the end, the message contained an “SBI KYC AADHAR UPDATE.apk” file.

It is a fake attempt to scare users into downloading a malicious app and that particular application can steal all your money. So please never get into it and you must realise that you will never be asked to download APK by the official sites and SBI has also confirmed that they will never ask customers to download any applications using APK files.
So please aware about this fake message and don’t forget to share this article with your friends and family as sharing is caring.
