Being an Android user for years, shifting to an iPhone felt like moving to a completely different place to me. I was excited about the new iOS experience, but I was also worried about moving all my years of data from my old Android device to the iPhone.
More than a month ago, during the Flipkart Big Billion Day sale, I finally switched from my old Android phone to an iPhone. And just like everyone Android user upgrading to iPhone, one of my biggest fear was:
“What if I lose my photos, chats, contacts… everything?”
I have been an Android user for all my life so I had years of data in it, especially my WhatsApp chats. So I started researching about it, Googled it, saw multiple tutorial videos on YouTube, and that’s when I found Apple’s Move to iOS app.
But it wasn’t perfect, since some liked it, but some hated it. So I thought let’s give it a try. Now I know there are many paid applications out there which may work better or worse than the Move to iOS app, but I stuck with it since it is an official app by Apple.
So here’s my detailed, and honest review sharing my personal experience of the Move to iOS app in 2025.
First Impression: Better Than Expected
I wasn’t expecting it to be very easy, as we know how Apple and Google have been going against each other for years, so both Android and iOS working together seamlessly? Sounds very suspicious right?
But to my surprise
Everything went very smoothly, the process was very simple to follow.
First you need to install the Move to iOS app on your Android phone → then connect it with the iPhone by entering the code → and then choose what you want to transfer, that’s it.
- No laptop.
- No third-party apps.
- No complicated steps.
- Just two phones connected to each other.
It actually felt very normal.
What I Transferred (and What I Didn’t)
Here’s what the Move to iOS app moved without any issues:
- Photos & Videos
- Contacts
- Calendar
- My Google Account
- WhatsApp Chats, Photos, Videos
Everything came over smoothly.
The only thing it didn’t transfer?
Apps
But I guess that’s expected since both Android and iOS are completely different operating systems, and Android apps aren’t compatible with iOS.
WhatsApp Stickers
This was a little surprising for me, since everything else was transferred perfectly fine, except for WhatsApp Stickers. But I was okay with making this small sacrifice.
Speed: Pretty Fast Actually
My Android had around:
- 5,000+ photos
- WhatsApp data of more than 5 GB’s
- 500+ Contacts
And the entire transfer took around 52 minutes.
Which is not bad at all. Now of course the transfer time will vary depending on the size of your data, also you can skip optional or not so important things, to reduce the time even more.
Here are some personal suggestions that you should keep in mind:
- Make sure to keep both the phones connected to the same Wi-Fi network
- Keep the screen on, if it turns off, just turn it back again.
- Make sure both the phones have enough charge before you begin.
If you follow these simple rules, I am sure you’ll not face any issues.
What I Loved the Most
The best part?
When the transfer was over and I was feeling very eager so I unlocked my iPhone, and
All my important data was transferred and looked exactly the same.
My contacts, call logs, WhatsApp Data, everything was perfectly moved to my new iPhone. It felt exactly the same. I can’t tell you how happy and satisfied I felt at that moment.
Final Verdict: Should You Use Move to iOS in 2025?
Yes, absolutely.
If you are also searching for the best way to move all your important data from Android to iOS, using the move to iOS app is the most simplest option for you, especially if you want to move your WhatsApp chats and data.
Now of course it’s not perfect. You might face errors while connecting or transferring your files, but it is the easiest option available, and it is officially available by Apple.
Now I understand why everyone keeps praising Apple. They have made the process so straight and to the point. Even if you are doing it for the first time, you will be easily able to do it if you follow all the steps carefully.
