The authorities in India have created a new set of rules for the social media applications in India. It will be effective for all the popular applications including WhatsApp, Telegram, Arattai, Signal, and other chat apps in the country. So let’s get into the article to check out the new rules.
India’s New Rule for Social Media
It is officially announced that social media applications need to follow the new set of rules in India. The applications must check whether the account of the user is linked to an active SIM card in his or her phone.
If the SIM is removed, changed, or becomes inactive then the user will be logged out automatically. WhatsApp/Telegram Web or Desktop must log out every 6 hours and users need to scan that QR code again and again from their phone; it will be an irritating implementation from the viewpoint of a user.
Government and telecom companies say this will help catch online scams, fake calls, and digital arrest cases. It is also said that applications have around 90 days to start following these new rules, and 120 days to fully report back to the government.
