Xiaomi is currently the joint No.1 in the Indian smartphone market shares. The Chinese smartphone maker has shipped a record 9.2 million smartphones in Q3 2017 in India. What differentiates Xiaomi from its peers is the software support by way of software updates for its old devices. These updates are important, as they bring new features, fixes bugs and adds security updates.
Xiaomi had released MIUI 9 in July 2017 which is based on Android Nougat. The current is Android Oreo however MIUI are heavily customized and packed with loads of extra features.
Xiaomi has developed a hardcore fan following all over the world. As a gift to all their users, Xiaomi has released a list of 40 devices which will get the MIUI 9 update.
The list includes devices which were launched as early as in 2012 which is practically a 5 year old phone. Such sort of software support by any other smartphone giant is unheard of. Most smartphone of other brands stop receiving updates in about 2 years.
