The South Korean electronics giant, LG gives a good fight back with other Smartphone manufacturers in terms of flagship devices. Last year, the company launched two flagship devices which are called LG G6 and LG V30. Both of the devices done a great job in the market as well as it also came up with some unique and stunning features.
Now as we are entered into a New Year, it’s time to see the new flagship device, and if we follow the history of the company. Then the G-series device usually launches in the first half of the Year, and V-series launches in the second half of the year. Which means now we are close to the new flagship device, and it is to be expected to launch at the MWC event. But now it seems that LG will not continue its traditional G-series, as we got a report which says that the company will not come up with a G-series smartphone.
If the report is going to be true, then this year’s flagship device will not be called as the LG G7. And the reason behind this move is reportedly being considered to give head to head with ‘two digit’ number devices like Galaxy S9. The G-series started by the company in 2012 with the launch of Optimus G, later in 2013, LG removed Optimus and launched devices with the G branding.
Moreover, the South Korean electronics giant also confirms that there is a change is on the way. As an official explains the source that ‘LG is preparing a new brand strategy for the G series in the first half of the year. Numbering the phone with a two-digit number and rebranding the phone with a new name are some of the options on the table’. Another LG official said ‘Rebranding flagship models is nothing new, and Samsung and Apple have done so for their own flagships’.
Right now, there is no confirmation of the actual change. Let’s wait and see in coming days, as we are a month short to witness the MWC 2018 event and that is the place where LG will unveil its first flagship device of the year.
