Artificial Intelligence is growing rapidly from past 1 year especially in smartphone industry, mainly with Google Assistant. At Google I/O 2017, Google Home also got some good improvements in regards to software (Here). Well some of you don’t know that even Google Home needs a SoC to function well. Now today MediaTek has announced a new processor but it’s not for any smartphone, it’s for artificial intelligence devices like smart assistance power speakers. So let’s see what MediaTek has to offer for this AI processor.
This new processor with model no. MT8516 is certified by Google’s Android Thing Certification, that means it has the support of Google’s AI platforms like Google Home. It is a quad-core processor based on ARM Cortex-A35 architecture, that’s clocked at 1.3Ghz . Also it supports 64-bit functionality. This Cortex-A35 architecture is one of the most power efficient processor which means it will not consume much battery & also less heat will produce. This processor supports LPDDR2, LPDDR3, DDR3, DDR3L and DDR4 options for RAM functionality.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. Only time will tell how well this processor performs. Until then, stay tuned with us for more information.
