Few days back, we got to know that the Moto X4’s launch got delayed due to the lack of Snapdragon 660 processor. Previously it rumoured that Moto X4 had to launch on 30th June. As of know we don’t have any information as well as leak that when Moto X4 is going to launch. But today we have an interesting information regarding the phone. Seems like this Moto X4 has some connections with Google.
Recently Google announced that they are going to launch a new mid-tier priced device from one of our partners, that will support Google’s Project Fi. They also said that this device is going to launch later this year. Now a new report is here by VentureBeat that this device is the Moto X4. Well this might seems true, as Motorola is one of the partner OEM for Google. Once this OEM was acquired by Google itself, & they launched the Nexus 6 too. It’s not a big matter of surprise as the Moto X4 is also going to be a premium mid-range device and also this Moto X series was announced by Google itself.
Those who don’t know what’s Google’s Project Fi ? The Google Project Fi is actually the cellular carrier service provided by Google in USA. As of now Google is providing Project Fi service with the help of some carrier networks in USA : Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular. As of now this Project Fi is only supported on Google Pixel & some Nexus devices. So the Moto X4 will become first non Pixel as well as Nexus device to be compatible with Project Fi.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. As Motorola will just launch the Moto Z2 & Moto Z2 Force in Q3 of 2017, the Moto X4 is only device left for the Q4 of 2017 i.e. later this year. BTW this will not affect anyone outside USA as of now, because Google’s Project Fi is currently available only in USA.
