Motorola unveiled the Moto G5S and G5S Plus smartphones earlier this month, which is a very slight update to Moto G5 and G5 Plus unveiled back in February at MWC event. Recently Motorola teased the launch of Moto G5S Plus smartphone in India. Now today they launched the Moto G5S Plus along with Moto G5S. Though most of us already know the specs of both phones, but let’s again have a look at them.
1st let’s talk about Moto G5S, this one is the lower-end phone between both phones. It has unibody metal build and placements are same as what we have seen in previous leaks and previous Motorola phones, as you can see from the image above. This Moto G5S comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 octa core processor, which is now last year’s budget processor. It is clocked at 1.4Ghz & comes with Adreno 505 GPU. It sports a 5.2” Full HD IPS LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 424 ppi. It has 4GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage that’s expandable upto 128GB via MicroSd Card slot. It has 16MP rear camera with PDAF, f2.0 lens, dual tone LED flash, video recording upto 1080p, and a 5MP front camera with f2.0 lens & LED flash.
It runs on latest Android 7.1.1 nougat out of the box with Motorola’s near stock UI and all typical Motorola features. It packs a 3000mah battery with Motorola’s Turbocharging technology. The phone is water repellent with nano coating, that means small accidental splashes of water will not affect the phone. It has all basic connectivity options like 4G LTE, Dual SIM support (Nano SIM), WiFi, Micro USB port, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. The fingerprint sensor is situated on the front.
Now coming to the Moto G5S Plus, this phone is higher-end variant between both phones. This one also has unibody metal build just like Moto G5S, but one different thing between two phoned is that this Moto G5S Plus has dual camera setup on the back. This Moto G5S Plus comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 octa core processor, same as Moto G5 Plus and last year’s Moto Z Play. It is clocked at 2.0Ghz and comes with Adreno 506 GPU. It sports a slightly larger 5.5” display with Gorilla Glass protection and slightly lesser 401 ppi. It has 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage with expandable storage upto 128GB via MicroSd Card slot. It has 13MP+13MP Dual Rear Camera Setup that works as a depth of field sensor and monochrome lens as well. This rear camera has f2.0 lens, dual tone LED flash, video recording upto 4k at 30fps + 1080p at 60fps, and 8MP front camera with wide angle lens, f2.0 lens & LED flash.

Both these phones will be available in Lunar Grey colour, but Moto G5S will also come in another Fine Gold colour and Moto G5S Plus will come with Blush Gold colour. Below are the details of pricing & availability of these phones:

- Moto G5S Plus is priced at INR 15,999/-
- Both phones will be available online via Amazon India starting midnight today and offline via Moto Hub Stores.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. Personally speaking both these phones are just increasing the quantity smartphones within the similar price segment. Now there are total 4 Motorola phones of 2017 between Rs.10k – Rs.20k in India. Moto G5, G5S, G5 Plus, and G5S Plus. This much number of phones will affect the software support for all.
