After many leaks & teasers, OnePlus unveiled their OnePlus 5 smartphone the day before yesterday. The phone packs some very good specs for the price, though the pricing is a bit on the higher side as compared to OnePlus 3T. The pre-orders of the phone is already started in USA & Europe. Now today OnePlus has officially unveiled the smartphone in India. An event was placed in Mumbai for the launch along with the finale of 1 crore competition. Now let’s have a look at the specs of the OnePlus 5.
The OnePlus 5 has a metal unibody design. It looks exactly like what we got from the leaks. On the back there’s Dual Camera Setup along with Dual LED flash & secondary microphone. Then there’s OnePlus branding below. On the front there’s earpiece, sensors, LED notification light and front camera. Below is the 5.5” display & at the bottom of the front, the fingerprint sensor is situated. On the left alert slider & volume rockers are present and power button & SIM card slot on the right. The top of the phone is plain and at the bottom the speaker, microphone, USB Type C port and most importantly the 3.5mm headphone jack is present, Yeah ! It is. The phone is just 7.25mm thin, making it the thinnest flagship of OnePlus ever (OnePlus X is not a flagship).
Now coming to the insides of this phone, the OnePlus 5 comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 octa core processor clocked at 2.35Ghz built on 10nm process, also the Adreno 540 GPU is also there. It sports the 5.5” 1080p Full HD Optic AMOLED display with 401 PPI & Gorilla Glass protection. It comes in two storage variants, 6GB RAM & 64GB internal storage and huge 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The internal storage is based in UFC 2.1 which results in faster file transfer and faster loading time in games. It comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with OnePlus’s Oxygen OS on top. It packs a 3300mah battery with Dash Charge technology, world’s one of the faster charging technology as of now. The battery is 100mah less than OnePlus 3T but the Snapdragon 835’s power efficiency will help here. Regarding the connectivity it comes with all basic connectivity options like WiFi, 4G LTE, VoLTE and NFC. Also it is one of the first device to come with Bluetooth 5.
Now talking about the USP of this device i.e. Camera, this OnePlus 5 comes with a 16MP Sony IMX398 Rear Camera with f1.7 aperture and 1.12 micron pixels. The secondary camera is a 20MP Sony IMX350 Telephoto lens with f2.6 aperture and 1.0 micron pixels. The secondary camera can perform same tasks as what iPhone 7 Plus can, the telephoto or bokeh effect and 2x optical zoom.
Personally I think that both these functionalities are the best what Dual Camera in smartphones can give. Now on the front there’s a 16MP shooter with EIS, f2.0 aperture and 1.0 micron pixels. Sadly OnePlus ditched OIS from the Rear Camera which helps in video stability. But we will get to know about the actual camera performance in near future.
The phone comes in two colours: Midnight Black and Slate Grey. Below are the information regarding the pricing and availability of the OnePlus 5:
- The 6GB RAM variant is priced at 32,999/- & the 8GB RAM variant is priced at INR 37,999 /- .
- The phone will be a available exclusively from Amazon India from today via a flash sale at 4:30 PM.
- There are some exciting launch offers from Vodafone, Kodak,
