Almost since past one year, most Samsung fans and every Galaxy Note series fans are eagerly waiting for the next Galaxy Note device i.e. Galaxy Note 8. For the past few months we got a bunch of Galaxy Note 8 leaked specs & rumours. Now today Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy Note 8. In terms of internal specifications it is similar to Galaxy S8 & S8+, but it has all ‘Note’ series features along with camera improvements. So let’s have a close look at this device.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes in two processors variants; one with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 octa core processor which is clocked at 2.4Ghz with Adreno 540 GPU, and other with Exynos 8895 octa core processor clocked at 2.3Ghz with Mali-G71 MP20 GPU. It sports a 6.3” Quad HD+ Super AMOLED infinity display with 522ppi. It has that identical 18.5:9 aspect ratio for the infinity display along with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both front & back. It comes with 6GB of RAM (1st for any Note device) and 64GB of internal storage along with MicroSd Card support upto 256GB. It packs a 3300mAh battery with fast charging support along with wireless charging. The battery is 200mAh smaller as compared to Galaxy Note 7’s 3500mAh battery. It has all connectivity options like 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual SIM and NFC. Also this phone is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance.
Now coming to the camera which is one of the biggest improvement over the Galaxy S8 & S8+. This phone comes with a 12MP + 12MP Dual Rear Camera Setup which is 1st for any Samsung smartphone. The primary camera has f1.7 lens, PDAF, dual pixel autofocus, and optical image stabilization (OIS). The secondary camera has f2.4 lens, but interestingly it too has PDAF, dual pixel autofocus, and OIS. The secondary camera can capture those depth of field photos along with 2x optical zoom. There’s a Dual Tone LED flash as well. On the front it has 8MP camera with f1.7 lens and autofocus.
Talking about other features, it has the improved S-Pen which is IP68 certified. There are some new improvements in S-Pen as well. The fingerprint sensor is also there along with iris scanner and face detection unlock. Also the Samsung’s own artificial intelligence system Bixby is present in this Galaxy Note 8 along with Samsung’s DeX dock station which turns the phone into Android PC when connected with monitor.
Now coming to the built of this device, it has the glass body with aluminium frame around the edges, same as some of the previous Samsung flagships like Galaxy S8 & S8+. On the front there’s earpiece, sensors, iris scanner, and front facing camera. Below is the 6.3” Infinity display which is Samsung’s marketing term for bezel-less display. There are no bezels on the left & right sides, and the top & bottom chins are also very thin. Speaking of bottom chin, there’s nothing placed there. On the right there’s power button, and on the left volume rocker and Bixby button is placed. On the top secondary noise cancellation microphone and SIM card slot are present. On the bottom USB Type C port, main microphone, speaker grill, and 3.5mm headphone jack (Kudos to Samsung here😜).
Coming to back of the device, horizontal Dual Camera Setup is placed along with Dual Tone LED flash, heart rate sensor, and fingerprint sensor. The back looks very premium with more polished glass. So the Note 8 users will also face same issue of reaching to fingerprint sensor easily along with smearing the lenses of both cameras. Samsung branding is present on the centre of the back.
