Earlier this year, the smartphone market was excited when Onward Mobility announced the launch of a 5G-enabled BlackBerry smartphone.But,now company has officially confirmed that they lost their rights to the latter’s name.
“We would like to thank everyone for your excellent support since we first launched Onward Mobility. However, we are saddened to announce the closure of Onward Mobility, and we will no longer go ahead with the development of an ultra-security smartphone with a physical keyboard. The company said in a statement. It means the 5G BlackBerry phone project is officially dead.
The announcement comes just six weeks after its plans were first unveiled. So this is unfortunate news for those waiting for the promised BlackBerry experience.
On January 4, 2022, support for BlackBerry 7.1 OS, BlackBerry 10, and BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1 was discontinued with previous versions. Provisioning service support has been discontinued and many functions such as WiFi, data, phone calls, SMS and Emergency Call Support have been disabled.
