Korean tech company LG has filed a new patent application for a foldable display for its infotainment system. The patent has been filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and shows a foldable car infotainment display.
The foldable car infotainment display is similar to the foldable phone that LG unveiled earlier this year. However, the foldable phone project is already complete, and LG seems to be focusing on foldable gadgets for cars and other entertainment devices.
Looking at the device, the display panel of the foldable car infotainment system opens from the small screen to the large display. Interestingly, the panel can display content either folded or unfolded. It is said to be using the popular rollable display technology from the Q1 2021 rollover smartphone.
Since it is foldable, it is expected to save some space when opened. It is not clear what the features of the device are, but we hope to hear more about it in the coming days.
In a related news, LG announced earlier this month that it will shut down its Android developer website on December 31st. This means that LG users will not be able to unlock the bootloader on LG phones.
