The EU recently demanded make cross-platform messaging setup and the popular instant messaging application WhatsApp which is owned by Meta is gearing up to follow the rule by implementing the feature of cross-platform messaging. The new implementation will enable user to message directly with those of other applications including Telegram or Signal through WhatsApp.
The new implementation will ensure strict end-to-end encryption standards as well. WhatsApp has said that initially, they will be focusing on basic features including exchanging texts, images, videos, voice messages, and files between individuals.
While the advanced features such as calls and group chats will be rolled out later. Users who need to opt-in for the latest service will be offering conversations received from other platforms in a separate “third-party chats” section within WhatsApp.
The new implementation will definitely offer more freedom to the users and we believe that the same will be coming to other parts of the world very soon.
