The world’s most favourite mobile operating system Android has introduced the enhanced phone safety protection by introducing new update focused on stopping unauthorized access, limiting damage after a device is stolen, and improving recovery.
With the latest update, the Mountain View company Google has said that Android devices will be harder to unlock, harder to misuse, and easier to secure remotely.
The devices with Android 16 and above will be getting features including control over Failed Authentication Lock. This feature, first introduced in Android 15, automatically locks the screen after too many failed unlock attempts but the latest update features a dedicated enable or disable toggle in settings. The mobile operating system is also expanding Identity Check and the same requires biometric authentication for sensitive actions when the user is outside trusted locations. Google is also strengthening the protection against screen lock guessing and the company is increasing the lockout time after repeated failed PIN, pattern, or password attempts. Google is also updating recovery tools and the remote lock will enable you to lock a lost or stolen device through android.com/lock, now includes an optional security question or challenge.
