Google has introduced the latest Wear OS 7 and it is based on Android 17. The company says that the new version can provide up to a 10 percent improvement in battery life for smartwatches compared to the previous generation.
The latest Wear OS 7 also comes with Widgets, and the company says that are designed to be flexible and dynamic. The newly introduced widgets will be available in 2×1 and 2×2 layouts. The latest update also features Live Updates to smartwatches that will enable apps to show real-time information at a glance.
Google is also enhancing system media controls in the latest Wear OS 7 and now it is adding per-app media auto-launch controls along with seamless audio routing through the Remote Output Switcher.
Moreover, the latest Wear OS 7 also comes with a new Wear Workout Tracker that provides a standardized workout tracking experience, along with support for Watch Face Format v5. It is also offering Gemini Intelligence to select smartwatches launching later this year and the same will enable more advanced, agentic experiences.
